Description

  • -Purpose:
  • - Support the External Affairs Director (EAD) in developing strategies for building stakeholder relationships, supporting stakeholder engagement and managing stakeholder relationships
  • -
  • - Support the EAD with the engagement of Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in process engagement on matters of regulatory, fiscal, and government relations
  • -
  • - Attend to and manage PMI Nigeria's presence at industry and business association bodies with a knowledgeable understanding of the influence and impact of issues that allows a level playing field for the business and enhances an atmosphere of predictability and stability for the business
  • -
  • - As a key member of the EA team, the candidate is expected to be a problem solver with a high motivation to help the team achieve its objectives
  • - Learning on the job is part of the experience and your ability to quickly absorb new concepts and technics is paramount to your success as a key contributor to the team
  • - Skills/Work Experience
  • - Outstanding personable skills and with the ability to connect, relate and collaborate internally and externally
  • -
  • - Experience with organizing, critical thinking and an issue-resolution mindset
  • - Familiarity with trade, financial, tax, tariff and excise matters in foods, beverage, sales and agriculture or other highly regulated industry will be an advantage
  • - Must be computer literate with advanced MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency

  • - Flawlessly able to handle external engagements with government and regulators or experienced in marketing or organizational result-oriented duties
  • - Superb relationship-building skills in a customer service setting and being able to prove success from such exposure will be an advantage
  • - Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • - Prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously internally and externally in stakeholder management
  • -
  • - Prepare and assist with position papers and presentations on regulatory, tax, trade and tariff matters for engagement with government officials and/or high-level members in industry associations and influential groups
  • -
  • - Support external and corporate affairs related to tobacco business issues with flair to deliver a clear message that maximizes corporate reputation
  • -
  • - Identify and track national and global developments in legislative and regulatory trends that affect the industry and the Company
  • -
  • - Maintain contact with Cluster, Regional and Global PMI External Affairs teams to stay up to date on emerging issues worldwide, and update and inform on the impact of PMI strategic positions in addressing or managing these issues
  • -
  • - Utilize PMI best practices and code of conduct, to implement clear proposals, vision and roadmap to drive the regulatory and fiscal vision of PMI in Nigeria
  • -
  • - Assess issues and understanding of the company’s position, including gaining access to the right information from the right source – internal and external to provide the right insights to the EAD and Management team in an agile and holistic way
  • -
  • - Monitor and provide knowledge to EA on attitudinal trends that identify emerging tobacco control issues and provide a framework for developing positions and strategies
  • -
  • - Maintain contact with external parties, and work closely with EA consultants and stakeholders to bridge knowledge and issues understanding and to guide EA and PMI
  • -
  • - Display interpersonal ability to work with relevant industry and country associations
  • -
  • - Propose formulation of appropriate responses/comments by PMI to amendments of legislative/regulatory initiatives consistent with PMI’s positions
  • -
  • - Develop briefing documents/presentation drafts reflecting for use in Government and Stakeholder engagement
  • -
  • - Exhibit an attitude of learning in understanding business issues, goals and agenda
  • -
  • - Support EA budget management with itemizing monthly travel and expense, logistics, etc
  • -
  • - Monitor and update periodically the regional and market space tobacco control requirements and other national legislation impacted by FCTC/WHO and suggests an appropriate framework for adaptation and recommendations

Job Requirement

we are looking for a candidate who fulfill these requirements

  • - University degree in Finance, Economics, Taxation, Banking Law or a related subject
  • - Previous experience in project management or technical analysis
  • - Strong business sense and appreciation for confidentiality in sensitive situations
  • - Excellent written, computer ability and oral communication skills
  • - Confident with a willingness to hit the ground running
